Do you provide services to Seattle Public Schools' students in grades K - 8th during the hours they are not in school? Would you like to strengthen your relationship with principals and teachers who work with these same children and youth?
School's Out Washington is excited to present a choice of one of two 1.5 hour workshops that will provide participants with strategies to support healthy collaborations and literacy activities aligned with SPS curriculum. This will make a great lunch and training break!
CHOOSE ONE:
Workshop: Telling Your Story
Are you looking to strengthen partnerships with Seattle Public Schools (SPS) principals and classroom teachers? Have you ever struggled communicating the value of your services? This workshop will explore strategies and provide resources to engage not only school personnel and leadership, but the surrounding community as a whole. Participants will address existing challenges from shared space to current SPS transitions and schedule changes. Presented by April Miller, School's Out Washington; Sherrie M. Belt, School's Out Washington; and Daisy Catague, Seattle Parks Department. 1.5 STARS credits in Administration.
Workshop: Balanced Literacy - Afterschool Style
This workshop will provide participants an opportunity to learn how to implement a balanced literacy approach in your existing programming. It will be adapted from fresh new literacy material from Seattle Public Schools. This experience will be crafted to address multi-age programming and building literacy-rich afterschool environments relevant to all children in grades K - 5th. Presented by Amy Griffin, Seattle Public Schools; and Lynda Llavore, School's Out Washington. 1.5 STARS credits in Curriculum Development .
This professional development event is brought to you by School's Out Washington in partnership with the City of Seattle Human Services Department and Seattle Public Schools. Contact Sherrie M. Belt at sbelt@schoolsoutwashington.org or at 206.336.6934 to register. You'll need to tell her which one of the two workshops you want to attend.
