We already know that in the U.S., there are pervasive racial disparities in health care, housing, employment, education, criminal legal, and more. It is also estimated that in 2050, people of color will no longer be a quantitative "minority." Can public policies and organizations afford to ignore these trends? How can public institutions better serve people of color and better adjust to the needs of changing community demographics? Join us to understand how you, a public service leader, can work to address racial disparities through public policy and service.
        <dc:publisher>No publisher</dc:publisher>
        <dc:rights></dc:rights>
        <dc:type>SOAR Event</dc:type>

The interactive workshop is designed for people who work with clients who currently live in poverty. Participants will obtain a stronger foundation for understanding the dynamics of poverty—how it is created through the interaction of individuals within social systems and how individuals and families experience it.

Participants gain insights from the points of view of individuals experiencing poverty as they explore the various kinds of poverty, reflect on their own socio-economic experiences, and talk first hand with a guest presenter who has experienced and survived homelessness and who willingly and honestly shares her perspectives and answers questions. Participants will have an opportunity to step into the shoes of people who live in poverty through pre-training assignments and in-class exercises.

Upon completion of this training participants will increase their capacity to:

•	Build hope, connections, resources and opportunities to better assist clients in moving out and staying out of poverty
