Technology training, service and leadership program
Up to Youth Opportunities
The YMCA of Greater Seattle and One Economy Digital Connector program will provide a unique opportunity for youth to serve the community, learn technology skills and practice leadership.
Examples of activities in the year-long program:
-- Learn basic to advanced technology skills (internet safety, how to hook up a computer, computer troubleshooting) so that students are equipped to go to, say, Yesler Terrace housing development computer lab and teach their newly honed skills to adult residents.
-- Explore and understand the importance of technology and broadband in today’s world. Use their knowledge to perform community mapping of their neighborhoods – how many residents have internet access at home? What community resources in the area provide high speed internet access?
-- Career exploration and site visits to area technology companies.
Seattle-area youth ages 14-19 are eligible to participate.
