Volunteer Digital Art/Music Instructors & Lab Monitors Needed
Volunteer Teen Activity Instructor
Garfield Community Center and RecTech are looking for volunteers interested in social justice and the arts to teach technology-based after school classes for teens. Get experience working with diverse youth while sharing your technology skills. We encourage instructors to develop programs according to their interests and expertise. We are open to new ideas! For fall quarter we are looking for instructors who can teach digital music creation (eg. using Garage Band & Mixcraft), digital photography and digital design. Position Hours: 2 hours per week, M-Th, 3:30-5:30pm. Commitment: 1 day per week for 8 weeks
Lab Volunteers
Volunteer to monitor the computer lab and provide computer assistance in the community! By volunteering, you can help ensure that youth, adults and seniors who may not have computer access at home have can use our lab. You would monitor lab for public hours; assist people with computer/ computer program use if needed, and maintain Seattle Parks and recreation code of conduct. Volunteers should be computer literate, familiar with Windows and Macintosh platforms, friendly and willing to help people learn to use technology.
Hours Available: Saturdays, 1-4pm, 1-2 shifts per month. Sat. volunteers will also open and close the lab. Tuesday or Thursdays, 3:00-7:00pm, 1 shift per week; Fridays, 2:00-6:00pm, 1 shift per week
Social Media Volunteer
Use Facebook to help us spread the word about opportunities to increase access to technology! Garfield Community Center is looking for a social media marketing volunteer to help promote its programs by maintaining and updating the Center’s Facebook page and other online media. Responsibilities: Update and maintain the Garfield Facebook page; Post events and classes to Facebook and other online media sites; Help build fan base for Facebook page. Position Hours: 2 hours per week. Commitment: At least 2 months
All volunteers with Seattle Parks are required to pass a Washington State Patrol background check.
