Parent Education Pilot Faciliatator Recruitment

Posted by Kyla Lackie at October 22. 2009

Dear SOAR Partner:

SOAR, United Way of King County, and Thrive by Five are partnering on a parent education pilot in King County, funded through Thrive by Five’s Nurturing Families Initiative.

The purpose of the pilot is to establish a Communities of Practice model in King and three other western Washington counties to support parent educators. Communities of Practice is a collective learning model that brings people together to share information, learn from each other and experts in the field, create networks among parent educators, and provide ongoing opportunity for professional in a peer environment. The pilot project will run between December 2009 and June 2010

We are looking to create a cadre of 5-10 facilitators to convene and conduct Communities of Practice groups across King County. Facilitators are expected to attend a three-day intensive training November 3-5, 2009 and facilitate 3 communities of practice gatherings over the course of the project. We estimate that facilitators will spend an additional 60-80 hours in addition to the training on the project. In addition to receiving the training, facilitators will be reimbursed for their work with the practice communities and supported in the scheduling and coordination of group meetings.

We are currently seeking nominations for facilitators for this exciting and important project, and are sending this information to you because you are a partner of SOAR and/or receive parent education funding from United Way of King County.

I am attaching additional information on the project for your reference. Please submit nominations for facilitators (names and contact information) to Harla Tumbleson, Director of SOAR, harla@childrenandyouth.org as soon as possible, as we are on a tight time line.

Thank you for your continued support of the children youth and families of our community.

Sincerely,

Harla Tumbleson, Director of SOAR
