New Boeing volunteer and gift match programs

Posted by Kyla Lackie at June 18. 2010

Boeing's new companywide approach to volunteering has arrived. Boeing launched a new Employee Volunteer Program and an enhanced Employee Gift Match program in support of employees' community involvement. The new programs include an online tool to make getting involved in volunteer events easier, a new volunteer website and an expanded gift match program, which now includes volunteering and cause-related walks, in addition to the traditional matching of employees' charitable donations.
"These enhancements will help our employees drive even more powerful change in our communities," said Patrice Mingo, Global Corporate Citizenship director of strategic employee programs. "Now, when we give our time, talent or resources to our community partners, Boeing will contribute as well."

Announced in April, the Employee Volunteer Program features several new elements:

  • Employees can register as volunteers at the new "Get Involved" tool available via TotalAccess under My Community Giving
  • Specifically, the tool enables employees to:
    • Search for Boeing-sponsored volunteer activities
    • Record volunteer hours
    • Request a match for volunteer hours
    • Request a match for monetary contributions to more types of nonprofit organizations
    • Track the status of gift match requests

Through the Employee Gift Match program, Boeing now will provide monetary awards to eligible nonprofits where employees volunteer at least 50 hours in one calendar year. The expanded program is designed to support a variety of employee contributions to more types of nonprofit organizations, including monetary contributions of cash and/or stock, volunteering and participation in cause-related walks -- up to a maximum of $6,000 per active, full-time employee per year.

Specific criteria for each category of employee contributions can be found at the Employee Volunteer Program website and also via "My Community Giving" at TotalAccess. Active, full-time employees' volunteer hours are matched at $500 for every 50 hours donated to an eligible nonprofit organization. (Retirees are eligible only for the monetary gift match program.)
