Youth Worker Collaboratives & Networking in King County
Children, Youth and Family Coalition
The CYFC is the youth focused sub-group of the Seattle Human Services Committee and is focused on policy issues and advocacy, particularly in regards to underserved populations. Employment Action Resource Network (EARN)
EARN is a collaboration between employment training agencies, young adults, and employers with a need for entry-level workers. Our mission is to help youth and young adults successfully enter the workforce by advancing the skills of young people, employers and employment professionals through the sharing of resources, best practices and advocacy. The EARN group meets every third Wednesdays to plan for upcoming events, as well as share resources and networking opportunities. New members are welcome. Contact us at earngroup09@gmail.com.
King County Food & Fitness Initiative
The mission of the King County Food & Fitness Initiative is to foster collaborative leadership among diverse community partners to co-create long-term, innovative strategies to realize our vision of equitable access to resources and choices that promote health. King County Youth Development Network
The King County Youth Development Network is a resource sharing website for King County youth development staff supported by SOAR and a collaborative group of youth development staff. This site is continuously evolving and depends on your contributions. We also co-host monthly networking sessions. This is fun, flexible and productive group! King County Youth Workers Forum
The King County Youth Workers Forum creates quarterly networking and training opportunities for local youth workers and youth development professionals. Gatherings are coordinated by a collaborative group including the YMCA of Greater Seattle, SOAR, and others. Open to all teen serving providers in King County, the forum seeks to provide networking opportunities and periodic training based on needs and interests identified by the group. Northwest Girls Coalition
The mission of the Northwest Girls Coalition is to strengthen the girl-serving community by fostering education and collaboration in the Puget Sound region. Our vision is to ensure a healthy, supportive environment for all girls to reach their full potential. We provide a variety of networking and professional development opportunities. Renton Area Nonprofits Unite! (RANU)
RANU is sponsored by the Renton Chamber of Commerce and is open to all who are working in Renton to make a better community. There’s a place in RANU for charities, churches, service clubs, PTAs, government agencies, businesses who give back. And there’s a place in RANU for staff, volunteers, and board members. Safe Schools Coalition
The Safe Schools Coalition is a public-private partnership of 80+ organizations (government agencies, schools, community agencies, churches, youth/student groups, gay/lesbian groups, human rights groups) and 400+ individuals working to help schools become safe places where every family can belong, where every educator can teach, and where every child can learn, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. Seattle Tutoring Coalition
The Seattle Tutoring Coalition provides free monthly professional development for tutoring/mentoring program managers. The Seattle Tutoring Coalition also provides the All-City Tutor Training several times a year. This is a free, comprehensive tutor training to anybody who is currently or is interested in becoming a tutor. Service Learning Seattle
Service Learning Seattle is a partnership between staff from Seattle Public Schools, community based organizations, teachers and students dedicated to the long-term sustainability of effective service learning practices in Seattle and the region. SLS sponsors an annual Service Learning Symposium in February for teachers and providers each year, provides leadership to service learning initiatives in a number of Seattle Public Schools, and hosts other activities as needed. SOAR School-Age Implementation Team
SOAR is a community collaborative focused on connecting, convening and catalyzing communities around common goals and strategies to ensure that King County’s children and youth succeed in school and life. The School-Age Implementation Team is focused on implementing the King County Action Agenda. Priorities for 2009 include developing a web-based resource for youth workers and other professional development opportunities; developing partnerships between schools and cbos; focusing on valuing identities; and supporting youth leadership. Teen Service Providers Network (Eastside)
The Teen Service Providers Network (TSPN) was created from a need of direct service staff to have support and share ideas about what is happening to youth in our community and how can we best support them with positive role models and successful programs.
