Meet Reginald Griffin from Horn of Africa Services!

Reginald Griffin

Greetings Fellow Youth Workers

A brief introduction from the AmeriCorps Youth Specialist with WorkSource Auburn, including a discussion of "blog-worthy" material.

As this is my very first blog, I would like to begin by introducing myself.  My name is Sinead Hennessy and I am a first-time AmeriCorps Youth Specialist with WorkSource Auburn.  There is no established youth program in our offices, and my responsibilities include creating a program that will educate youth, ages 14-25, about available programs and services to help teach necessary skills for lifelong success in the workplace.  And, as previously stated, I am also a first time blogger.  How is this possible given the rampant spread of technology and the assumption that everyone my age and younger is a computer wiz?  Frankly, I spent the majority of my time reading BoxCar Children and making brownies in my Easy-Bake Oven®.

Reaching this conclusion, I can safely move on to the topic at hand: What is blog-worthy?  Urbandictionary.com defines “blog-worthy” as, “When something happens in your day that is worth mentioning on your blog (web log)”.  That being said, my aim is to provide a narrative of my experiences, volunteering with AmeriCorps and WorkSource, which may be considered blog-worthy.  It will also include information about WorkSource, useful job-related resources, insight I learn during my presentations to high school students, and a myriad of questions I have about…everything.  In turn, I hope to establish an open stream of communication with you (my fellow youth worker) in order to gain knowledge, share information, and enhance my experience (and yours, for that matter) working with youth.

I appreciate everyone who reads my web logs, and I look forward to hearing from you!
