Great Teen Stands up for LGBTQ Community against Homophobia
Here is a great article about a teen, whose school refused to allow her and her girlfriend to attend prom, and is now fighting for her rights!
Here is an awesome article showing how a teen is standing up for herself and the LGBTQ community. It takes a strong person to take discrimination face on. She is doing so by telling her school district that homophobia is unacceptable and by fighting for her rights after they cancelled prom. She set an excellent example for other teens to be proud of whom they are.

We should all do our best to combat homophobia and the negative stigmas our LGBTQ face. Here are a few suggestions from some great national organizations (regarding the legislative process)
from the Equal Rights Campaign (focusing on legislative action): http://www.hrc.org/get_involved/12882.htm
The ACLU-LGBT Project (has 5 different approaches):

Here are a few other suggestions for everyday life:
1. Call people out when they make derogatory comments, jokes or slurs regarding sexual orientation/ identity
2. Join/ start the gay-straight alliance
3. Raise awareness and let people know that you won’t support homophobic behavior
… and I would love to hear other suggestions on how to combat homophobia.
